Ghaziabad: On Saturday, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said, about 25,000 tractors from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will participate in the 'Kisan Parade' in the national capital on 26 January.
Farmers will arrive here at all costs, he said, adding that farmers from both states going to UP Gate from tractor trolleys were stopped by police in different districts, but farmers would arrive here at all costs. But a tractor rally will be held.
"Around 25,000 tractors will arrive here and apart from western Uttar Pradesh districts, farmers will hold rallies in every district." The BKU national spokesman said that, "no district political person will be allowed to participate". The district administration is sending notices to the farmers and claimed that they are not participating in the rallies which are under the COVID-19 norms and Section 144 of the CrPC, in view of the increasing pressure on them.
The routes of the rally will be decided by the police of Haryana Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and details will be released by Samyukta Kisan Morcha after the final decision. Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar claimed on Saturday (23th January) after attending a meeting between unions in protest against the new agricultural laws and senior police officers that the Delhi Police allowed tractor parade of farmers on 26 January.
The tractor parade will start from Ghazipur (Delhi), Tikri border and Singhu points, but the final details of the routes are yet to be decided, with leader Abhimanyu Kohar who is an umbrella body of agitating unions, a senior member of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha .
However, Additional Public Relations Officer of Delhi Police Anil Mittal said, "We are in the final stages of negotiations with the farmers."
